Some drummers like to play hard. So let them. The Jonny Cage gives the Sound/Mixing professional the ability to mic up the drums with complete control. Volume and effects are easily maintained by the engineer, just as any other input channel. You can expect superb recording and at the same time dramatically cut recording pre/post production costs. In a studio performance, the performer is completely surrounded by the acoustic booth and since the booth attenuates the frequencies associated with the vocal range, microphone feedback issues are greatly reduced.

Live venues inherently have difficulties with millisecond sound differences between the sound the drummer hears and plays and what the other musicians and audience hear. Since the Jonny Cage acts like an acoustic shelter, timing delays are virtually eliminated. Sound effects are controlled (added) by the performer or sound engineer.  The engineer can now control the “hall” delay and over volume drum issues inherit in live performances.

Since the Jonny Cage features a modular design, the front may be opened, exposing the drummer to the audience (vanity mode). With the front open, the performer is still surrounded by nine (9) of the twelve (12) internal surfaces of the chamber.

Night Clubs pose similar issues for the performers and engineers. Each venue will undoubtedly have differing acoustics. These differences are determined by the shape of the room, the furniture, even the number of people in the audience. Preproduction setups typically only reflect the room under a single condition. Typically the hardest of the instruments to tame, the percussion channel(s) is now a “known” and is no longer an issue, reducing the time and cost of preproduction tuning.
